In Italy we say: “You don’t need to travel all the way to the Caribbean, just go to Sardinia”. That’s actually very true if you refer to the sea: changing color from deep dark blu to emerald green. On top though, you also get a thousand years old colture: ancient songs, crazy languages, weird buildings, sublime seafood and bush food. And than you have island, cliffs, mountains, rivers, canyons and rock!
You go north and you will find pure granite. You go south and you will find limestone, even basalt. Leave at home everything you knew about Europe, Italy or the Mediterranean. Come with us to explore a world on his own, where everything is different, where everything looks, tastes, sails and climbs better.
All of this natural beauty is enriched by a thousand years old colture: ancient songs, crazy languages, weird buildings, sublime seafood and bush food.
Meeting point is in Portisco marina (check-in after 16:00).
Accommodation and organization of the boat for the week.
Sunrise sailing to the wild Tavolara Island.
Today’s aim is to get a good taste of what Sardinia looks like from a very suggestive perspective. We will climb the highest peaks of the island trough the astonishing Via Ferrata degli Angeli which leads to a fun path on a 500m high ridge connecting all the peaks. On one side there will be Sardinia and the archipelago, while on the other side the endless blu Mediterranean Sea.
On the way down the boat will be waiting on anchor at Spalmatore di Terra beach (one of the nicest beaches in Sardinia). We will spend the afternoon here relaxing and swimming after the long day.
Morning sailing to Cala Gonone. September is a nice period to sail and moreover the fishing is superb! << A legend says that during a Vertical Sailing Tour in the area, one crew managed to fish up to 22 tunas in just few hours… >>. After a morning spent out in the sea, we will drop the anchor in front Cala Fuili. An amazing view of the wild coast will be the landscape to our lunch and in the afternoon we will be ready to disembark and explore the canyon which starts at the beach. The canyon alone has more 200 routes.
Today let’s climb everything we can!
Many wonderful crags above Cala Gonone village are waiting to be explored…choosing where to climb in the morning might become a hard job. Anyhow a visit to “The Millennium Cave” should be mandatory!
If you have been waiting to climb some multi pitch right above the sea, this could be your day. Many multi pitch routes can be found in the area as well as crags in the forest and by the beach. The spot has some of the most iconic climbs on the island!
In the evening we will drop the anchor in the gorgeous bay right in front of our next goal: The Aguglia di Cala Goloritzè.
Many climbers travel all the way to Sardinia just to get their hands on the Aguglia di Cala Goloritzè. This rocky needle rises almost from the beach all the way up to 140m and it has 11 routes rated from 5c to 7b+. On our way back to Cala Gonone we will visit the famous sea cave “Grotta del Bue Marino”.
Early climb in some new crags above Cala Gonone.
Sailing to Molara Island to explore its uncontaminated bays and granite boulders right on the beach. Sailing back to Portisco (we must return to Portisco marina by 18:00).
